Volunteers

MiDFur, like all fan run conventions, relies on the support of volunteers, which are the veritable lifeblood that keeps the convention animal alive. We are putting out call for people to take on the volunteer roles needed at MiDFur, including security, event staff and human resources coordinator. Volunteers can earn registration passes to attend the convention and other bonuses.

Camera Operators

Are you confident with video cameras? Do you have a video capable DSLR (preferably)? Would you like to work as a team to preserve the amazing memories had? Would you like to be part of the team capturing the live 2 Sense show and filming for 2 Gryphon's new stand-up DVD being performed at MiDFur? Would you like to earn passes to MiDFur the 13th? Logistics

Logistics are the gatekeepers of the convention, ensuring not just that those within the convention space have registration badges - but also keeping a watchful eye on the safety of attendees and their property. A qualification in security is a big plus, but not essential. Being trustworthy and reliable is a must.

Human Resources

Human resources are the person coordinating the volunteer effort. The ideal is to have volunteers who are happy and enjoy being a part of running the convention, which in turn facilitates awesome for everyone else attending MiDFur. Strong organisational and communication skills are required both online and at the convention, as you'll be in charge of recruiting, scheduling, directing and managing the team.

General Applications

If you are interested in volunteering but don't know what area you'd fit in, feel free to write in to hr@midfur.com.au and tell us about your skills and interests and we can go from there.

What you do depends on your skills and what you would be happy doing. People skills, technical skills, medical skills. We need them all! Some of the roles that need filling include gophers, video camera operators, first aid and event assistants.

Available Times

You even have the option of WHEN you volunteer – you can volunteer in the day or the night, or even for just a couple of hours.

Rewards

After 8 hours of volunteering is a free day pass, giving you the rest of the day to enjoy the convention! This time also includes a 1 hour break.

(You can also choose to volunteer for shorter time periods than the 8 hour. Although this won’t get you a free day pass, you will still get a 15 minute or 30 minute break.)
