Dealers Den: General Information
At MiDFur this year we're now offering three ways for artists to sell and show their wares: the Dealer Den, the Artist Alley and the Art Show. So, what's the difference?
Dealers Den:
In the dealer den you get your own half table at $40 for the whole weekend and can sell any kind of ware, including drawn art, commissions, costume pieces, etc.
Artist Alley:
The Alley is where artists pay $15 per day for table space. This is only for artists drawing spot commissions, badges and sketchbooks.
Please note that the Early Bird prices expired as of June 30th, 2010.
The Art Show:
The Art Show allows artists to display their works in an exhibition in the Pelham Room, located next door to the Dealer Den and Artist Alley. Artists can choose to either just have their art on display, or sell them either for a fixed price or through silent auction. Putting work into the art show costs $20 per panel space.
Note - you need to be registered for the convention before you can apply for any of the above.
So if you'd like a table full of gear that you sell throughout the whole convention, then the Dealer Den is for you. But if you just like the idea of doing some commission badges or sketches for a day or two, then the Artists Alley will suit you perfectly. However if you just want to show your art off or sell a piece or two without having to be behind a table, then try the Art Show.
Food Run:
Finally, we will be trying to offer a new service for all those behind the tables in the Dealer Den and Artist Alley – an organised food run. Say you're stuck at your table and you can't escape to get lunch. Well, in the morning we'll be handing out to the dealers and artists an order form with the menu of the hotel's lunch meals, taking your order and bringing the food right to you at your table! Full details will be published later, but expect to be able to draw and sell without starving at your table. Please notethat this service will be dependent on having volunteers available to do the running around on the day.
