Depending on the time of day and where you’re coming from, trains can be running as close as every 5 minutes to every 40 minutes. For train schedules, see the Metro Trains Melbourne website.

There are several trams that run up Swanston Street that can take you near or right to Rydges, but perhaps the best tram to catch is number 6 going towards Melbourne Uni. This goes all way up Swanston Street in the Melbourne CBD and goes right by Swanston Street.

Other trams that run right past Rydges are the number 1, 3, 5, 6 and 8 and there are likely even more. For schedules and other information on trams, please visit the Yarra Trams website.

PARKING AT RYDGES ON SWANSTON

For those driving into MiDFur there is ample parking at both the hotel and in the surrounding area.

If you’re staying at Rydges On Swanston, there is a car park with an entrance on Lincoln Square North - just around the side from the front of the hotel. Parking costs $10 per day. Please note this is subject to availability and you can’t reserve parking spots.

All around the area of the hotel there is plentiful parking – but do note that most of it is metered parking.

Here are the points you should know about metered parking:

  • There is parking on practically every single street within sight of the hotel, so you won’t have to walk far.
  • Parking spots range from half-hour parking to four hour parking
  • Parking is $1.30 per hour
  • Check parking signs for instructions
  • Outside these hours indicated on the signs parking is free
  • These free times are generally very early in the morning and very late at night
  • Be wary of signs with the word permit on them. You probably don’t have a permit unless you live on that street. Permit signs never have a free parking period.
