STAN SAKAI is a renowned comic book artist and writer best known for creating Usagi Yojimbo. Created in 1987 and still running today, the comic is set in an alternate 17th century Japan with a world populated by a mix of anthropomorphic animals, humans and regular animals. The comics tell the adventures of Usagi Miyamoto, a wandering rabbit samurai. He has won no less than three Eisner awards and has been nominated for twenty more. The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards are most esteemed awards in the American comic book world. The comics are also extremely popular in the furry community, having won six Ursa Major awards (the Hugo Awards of the furry fandom), which is twice as many as Ozy & Millie. The character Usagi Miyamoto has also featured in several crossovers to the universe of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in both the comics and the animated television series. Stan has also been an artist for The Simpsons comics, Riblet and Donald Duck comics. Born in Japan, he studied fine art at the University Of Hawaii and then at the Art Centre College of Design in California, where he now lives.
